It is important for parents to remember that “incurable” does not mean untreatable. Switching one’s thinking from “curing” to living with autism may then be a more productive mindset. Parents can and should explore all their options for early intervention and educate themselves about what methods may work for their child.
Treatment options for children with ASD may also, according to the Autism Society, include some pharmacological interventions. Again, while no “magic pill” can cure ASD, pharmacological interventions, under a doctor’s supervision, may be appropriate for a child with ASD.
Vision training can be used to assist children who have problems tracking movement, being easily distracted, bumping into furniture or with toe-to-heel walking.
